The Clinical Educator functions as a leader in education, a staff development resource, and mentor. He/she supports collaboration between the academic and practice settings. He/she supports continuous learning and professional development through provision of in-services; education program development, implementation, and evaluation; and competency assessment. He/she promotes and demonstrates evidence based practice.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
LEVEL I
Minimum Education
Minimum Work Experience
- 5 Years clinical experience in nursing in hospital setting to include 3 Years of department/unit/specialty specific experience.
- Previous educational nursing instructor experience preferred.
Required Licenses/Certifications
- Current Vermont RN and/or Advanced Practice Licensure in Vermont.
- Unit-specific training certifications as required per specific department operational framework (i.e., CNOR, ACLS, TNCC, PALS, ENPC, NRP, PCCN, CCRN).
- Completion of endorsed patient/visitor de-escalation and restraint program certification based on department specific guidelines.
- BLS Certification through American Heart Association.
- Specialty certification in Nursing Professional Development and 1 unit specific certification preferred or obtained within two years of hire
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge and skills related to clinical nursing practice.
- Knowledge of adult education principles
- Demonstrated leadership skills and a commitment to education as a methodology for promoting continuous quality improvement in the delivery of patient care and services.
- Effective and timely oral and written communicates skills
- Demonstrates moderate knowledge of basic computer skills.
- Education program development
LEVEL II - ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education
Minimum Work Experience
- 7 Years clinical experience in nursing in hospital setting to include 3 Years of ICU/PCU specific experience.
- Previous experience designing, facilitating, and validating education or training experiences required.
- Fully proficient in all areas covered in Basic Integrated Nursing General Orientation; able to instruct independently.
- Proficient in EMR applications, workflows, documentation practices.
Required Licenses/Certifications
- Current Vermont RN and/or Advanced Practice Licensure in Vermont.
